Qustodio Parent App is Live!

We are delighted to announce that the St Virgil's College Qustodio Parent App is now live and available for all College families.

As part of our commitment to strengthening our partnership with parents and carers in supporting the safe and responsible use of technology, every family now has access to a complimentary Qustodio licence. This includes the ability to protect one personal device, such as a smartphone or tablet that your son regularly uses at home.

Qustodio provides parents with valuable tools to help manage screen time, encourage healthy digital habits, and support safe online experiences through easy-to-use monitoring and reporting features. To register your account, please use the personalised registration link below and register using the email address the College has on record for your family.

Online Safety During the School Holidays: Understanding Discord

With the school holidays approaching, many young people will spend more time connecting with friends through online games and communication platforms. One of the most popular of these is Discord, an app that allows users to chat through text, voice and video while gaming or participating in online communities.

While Discord can provide a positive way for young people to connect over shared interests, parents should be aware that students may also interact with people they do not know, join public servers and be exposed to inappropriate content if privacy settings are not carefully managed. Open conversations about who your son is communicating with, the communities he joins, and the importance of protecting personal information are key to helping him stay safe online. Discord also offers a range of privacy and family safety features that parents are encouraged to explore together with their child.

To help you better understand Discord, including how it works, the potential risks, recommended privacy settings and practical tips for supporting your son, we encourage you to explore the Online Safety Hub resource below.

Holiday Wellbeing Supports

On Monday 6 July, families received an EdSmart communication outlining a range of wellbeing supports available throughout the school holiday period.

The school holidays can be a valuable opportunity for your son to rest, reconnect and reset following a busy term. We also recognise that some students and families may experience challenges during this time. This EdSmart communication includes a range of professional support services and wellbeing resources that can be accessed should additional assistance be required.

We encourage all parents and carers to keep this information readily available and to access these services if support is needed during the holiday period.

Wishing You a Safe Holiday Break

As Term 2 draws to a close, I would like to thank all families for their continued support throughout the semester. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday period and hope our students take this opportunity to recharge, spend quality time with family and friends.

We look forward to welcoming you and your son back to the College for our Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews on Monday 27 July.
