Ovens and Mitta Division Athletics
Congratulations to Emily, Evelyn and Rowan (not pictured) for winning age group champions at Athletics in Term 3. They travelled to the Les O'Brien Athletics Precinct and competed in many events to take out this ultimate achievement. This also meant they qualified in their respective events to represent our school at Hume Region Athletics earlier this week.
Textiles - Surfin' Safari
At the end of Term 3, the textiles class gave up our sewing room, so that the Year 12s could sit internal exams. This meant that for a week, we weren’t able to work on our normal projects.
The students were set a design brief challenge, where they had to create an outfit for Bluey or Bingo, that could be worn while they were away on their Surfin’ Safari.
The creative juices flowed, and students created a range of outfits from casual beachwear, to party dresses to wear to a beach party, to stylish ball gowns/outfits suitable to be worn at a stopover at the 2026 MET Gala on the way to their Surfin’ Safari.
I am always amazed at the amount of creativity that comes from our students! All outfits were made with newspapers and a limited amount of masking tape and had to be made so that they could be taken on and off the toys (as a model would in real life).
Well done team!

Tag Rugby Sport Report
At the end of Term 3, Mount Beauty SC sent a mixed intermediate team to compete in Tag Rugby at the interschool sports. Here's what they had to say about their day -
Team B played, clean, good games, progressing in skill over the day. All team members acted respectfully. Bridget was mentioned as the MVP by her team-mates.
Team A played really well and won most of their games. Lincoln had a fan club cheering him on.
Indonesian
Year 8 Indonesian – Cooking Up a Taste of Indonesia!
At the end of Term 3, our Year 8 Indonesian students put their language learning into practice with a delicious Indonesian cooking experience! As part of our Term 3 topic, Food (Makanan), students had the opportunity to prepare and cook an Indonesian dish.
Students followed a recipe, learned Indonesian food vocabulary and practised using Indonesian language while working together. It was a great way to connect language and culture with a hands-on experience—and, of course, enjoy some delicious Indonesian food!
The cooking activity was a fun way to finish our Food unit and gave students a taste of Indonesian culture right here at school. Selamat makan!
Year 9–10 Indonesian – Celebrating with Tumpeng!
At the end of last term, our Year 9 and 10 Indonesian students celebrated the completion of their Ceremony and Celebration (Perayaan dan Upacara) unit by making a traditional Indonesian tumpeng.
Tumpeng is a cone-shaped rice dish traditionally served at important celebrations and ceremonies in Indonesia. Students learned about the cultural meaning behind tumpeng and worked together to prepare and decorate their own, before sharing it as part of our celebration.
We were also very fortunate to have Mr Hendrawan, an Indonesian Language Learning Ambassador (ILLA), join us for the day. Mr Hendrawan spent time with the students playing Indonesian vocabulary games and sharing in the tumpeng celebration.
It was a wonderful way to bring Indonesian language and culture to life through food, games and celebration. Terima kasih, Pak Hendrawan, and selamat makan!
