School Council Report

School Council last met on Tuesday, 8th of September, 2026, Term 3 Week 9.

Some of the items that were discussed:

1. Future School Council meeting dates were confirmed. 

These are:

27th of October and 24th of November.

2. Claire Mackinlay has created a template, allowing the School Council to report back to the SRC. The template reflects three School Council objectives:

• To assist in the governance of the school.
• To enhance student learning.
• To ensure the School Council complies with the necessary laws. 

NB: School Council does not influence operational matters. 

3. The attending member/s of the Fundraising Committee announced a fundraising plan that was approved by the School Council. Stay tuned for some exciting items around the school in Term 4.

4. The PE uniform update was discussed. A sun-smart neckline and collar were agreed upon to future-proof our new PE shirt and ensure students are provided with continued sun protection. Simone Roy will be sending the current design ideas to a graphic designer for shirt options. Hopefully, the new PE shirt will be chosen by the students and confirmed by the end of the year.

5. School purchasing was reviewed, and the possibility of cutting some costs was explored. The idea of sourcing a sponsor to provide free school sunscreen will be further investigated by the fundraising committee. 

6. Grants to improve school infrastructure, such as window improvements and insulation possibilities, were discussed and will be further explored.

7. A youth leadership conference for March next year was discussed and costs identified.

Next school council meeting is the 27th of October.
