Japanese

Minasan Konnichiwa! (Hello everyone.)

Welcome to 2026 Japanese! (Yokoso!)

We have had a positive start of the 2026 Japanese program. Students in Year 1 to Year 6 went back to their routines smoothly. In our Japanese lessons, 5 areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture will be covered.

Listening and speaking

Students practice listening and speaking in many ways. For example, we sing some Japanese songs, repeat some sentences and have question and answer time in Japanese.

Reading

Students practice reading Hiragana (Japanese alphabet) using a song and flash cards.

Writing

After students focus on some topics for the lesson, they write the words and sentences to reinforce their vocabulary.

Foundation

Foundation students have happily started to learn Japanese. Everyone has been practicing how to greet in Japanese to start and finish the class. We have also been practicing “Ohayo song” (greetings), “Kobuta song” (animals), counting 1-10 and naming some colours. Origami (paper folding) has been very popular, and we have made a cat, dog, rabbit so far.
