☀️ SunSmart Policy in Action – Term 4 Reminder
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we step into the warmer months of Term 4, we are reminding all families that our SunSmart Policy is now in effect to ensure the health and safety of our students during outdoor activities.
🧢 Hats On!
From October through to the end of April, all students are required to wear a broad-brimmed or bucket hat when outside. This includes recess, lunch, PE lessons, and any outdoor excursions or events. Students without a hat will be asked to stay in designated shaded areas during recess and lunch times.
🧴 Sunscreen Encouraged
We encourage families to make sure children apply SPF30+ (or higher) sunscreen before school. Students are also encouraged to bring their own sunscreen to reapply during the day, especially before recess, lunch and extended outdoor activities. Staff will remind students to reapply, but they will need to do so independently.
😎 Seeking Shade
We are continuing to promote the use of shaded areas during peak UV times and multiple shaded play spaces are available across the school grounds.
📱 Check the UV Index
We regularly monitor the daily UV index and encourage you to do the same at home using the free SunSmart app or by visiting the SunSmart website.
By working together, we can help our students develop lifelong sun-safe habits and reduce their risk of skin damage.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school SunSmart!
Warm regards,
Cecile
