Loud Shirt Day Celebration at Brighton Primary School

On Monday, 13th October, Brighton Primary School proudly celebrated Loud Shirt Day to raise awareness and funds to support children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The day was filled with colour and connection as students and staff wore bright, fun shirts to show their support. We also launched our first ever Auslan Club, introduced engaging classroom activities, and unveiled our brand-new pavement stickers designed to promote our school values - inclusion, individuality, excellence, community .

A highlight of the day was welcoming two special guest speakers — Richie (pictured below) and Henok, both former Brighton PS students. Richie spoke about his personal journey of receiving his cochlear implants, sharing stories of resilience, the power of kindness in friendships, and the importance of sticking together. Henok inspired us with his incredible artwork, reflecting on how Brighton PS supported his creative growth and encouraged him to follow his dreams.

Thank you to everyone for contributing to the day. As a school, we raised $489 which will go to Next Sense, a service that supports deaf and hard of hearing children.  It was a joyful and inspiring day, celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the strength of our school community!
