Gardening

The past few weeks in gardening we have been enjoying the warmer days, and soaking rains.
We have begun to plant out our summer vegies such as tomatoes, beans, basil and cucumbers.
We have harvested our broad beans ready to cook!
Students in years 5/6 have planted out a new bushfoods garden bed near the Babagen. We planted banksias, river mint, Sea Celery, finger lime, ruby saltbush, hop goodenias and noon flowers. This was made possible thanks to a generous community grant.
In years 3 and 4, students have been learning about biomimicry, linking into their design unit. We have been considering the strategies that nature uses to solve problems and considering how we might be able to apply them to design thinking. One class came up with a waterproof hat, based on the hydrophobic leaves of the Nasturtium.
If you would like to help out in the garden, please reach out to Emily via the office.
