Careers

Bailey Harris had an interest in cooking and was wanting to experience the possibility of working in a kitchen environment. Bailey started working casually at The Prince Hotel in Seymour and found his way into the kitchen assisting the cooking staff. Bailey shared his genuine interest in cooking wanting to investigate the possibility of a school-based apprenticeship. A meeting was arranged with the Will Essex, the Hotel Manager at The Prince Hotel the Will Essex to discuss the process and obligations of employing a school-based apprentice to an employer. The Prince Hotel were fully supportive of employing Bailey as a school-based apprentice. Bailey now works three shifts a week including all day on a Wednesday. He is currently learning the basic skills required in a kitchen and assisting the cooking staff. The training for his Certificate III in Cooking qualification will be provided by AVTES, who will deliver his training to the worksite in monthly visits.
Congratulations and good luck Bailey.

Isaac lives in Nagambie and by his own efforts, he obtained a work placement with a local building company, MRZ Constructions which is operated by Michael Zanetti. Michael was impressed with Isaac’s hard work and potential in the workplace. As Michael himself commenced his career as a school-based apprentice, he has given Isaac the same opportunity to follow a similar pathway. This school-based apprenticeship has been discussed and explained to Isaac and after completing Year 12, he will transfer across to full-time.
