Welcome to Term 2!
I hope that you all enjoyed the Easter break and enjoyed the lovely autumn weather we have been having.
On our first day back for Term 2, we celebrated our Easter Hat Parade for our primary aged students. This was a great morning and some of the hats were amazing.
ANZAC Day Commemorations
On Thursday 24th April, we commemorated ANZAC Day with a special assembly at the College. It was truly heartening to see the level of respect shown by our students throughout the entire service. Their conduct reflected a deep understanding of the significance of the day.
A sincere thank you to our Defence School Mentor, Kelly Quigg, for her outstanding organisation of the assembly and all other aspects related to our ANZAC Day commemorations. Her dedication ensured a meaningful and respectful experience for all involved.
It was my privilege to represent the College at the Nagambie ANZAC Day Service, accompanied by students Brodie Baker and Kaleera Jones-Walden. Assistant Principal Derek Rimes attended the Seymour service, where our College Captains, Mandessah and Jacob, laid a wreath and delivered a heartfelt address on behalf of our school community.
This term, our focus continues to be on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive. From classroom activities to co-curricular events, there’s been a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and commitment from both students and staff. It's been especially rewarding to see students settling into routines, setting goals, and working hard towards them.
At Seymour College, we prioritise regular school attendance. We will work with families to ensure students are in class with their peers and teachers and enjoying all the benefits that brings. Absences can add up quickly. It is worth noting that students who miss school one day per fortnight, adds up to missing four weeks of school per year.
We know that parents and carers can be juggling challenges daily to get your children to school due to numerous reasons. If your child must miss school due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, please notify us as soon as possible via Compass or calling the school so we can work together to support them.
We are grateful for the ongoing support from our families—it truly makes a difference and strengthens the connection between home and school.
Warm regards,
Debbie Oliver
