Friday Club Spotlight - Mineful Movement with Ms Watters

At Pioneer Village School, students are actively involved in the Mindfulness Club, where they participate in a variety of activities each week. We begin each session with a yarning circle, during which everyone has the opportunity to share their achievements from the week, discuss how they are feeling, and talk about what they are looking forward to.

Students then take part in a short guided yoga or mindfulness activity, where they learn strategies to calm the body and practise essential stretches that help release stress and tension. Following this, students participate in a range of art therapy activities focused on promoting relaxation, supporting emotional wellbeing, and encouraging creative expression.

Throughout Friday afternoons, students are reminded that the Mindfulness Club is a safe and supportive environment where they can be themselves. They enjoy grounding themselves through mindfulness practices, using a variety of sensory resources, and being surrounded by calming essential oils to help relieve stress after a busy and productive week.
