Term 2 Grade 5/6
Winter Inter-School Sport
Gala Day 1
Last Friday, the Grade 5/6 students competed in their first Gala Day for the Winter Inter School Sport competition.
We had several teams playing at various locations. We braved the wind and cold and managed to avoid any rain! It was great to see a significant improvement in skills and game knowledge as the day went on, as teams had a chance to bond and gel together as a team.
Several Kalinda teams won many of their games in their pool, meaning they advance to the finals pool for Gala Day 2, to be held on Friday the 27th of June. After this day, we will find out if any of our teams are successful in progressing to the next level of competition.
Our school takes pride in displaying respect towards teammates, opponents, and umpires during sports, and this was clearly evident in true Kalinda spirit on the day.
We thank all our parents and grandparents, and Steve from Warranwood Cricket Club, who assisted and managed a team on the day. We wouldn’t be able to field as many teams as we do in the Inter School Sport competition without their help, so thank you again.
Wishing all our Kalinda teams the very best on their next Gala day.
Division Cross Country
Congratulations to Ryder, Emmett, and Eddie P who represented our school at the Maroondah/Manningham Division Cross Country on Tuesday the 3rd of June at Yarra G Racecourse. This event marked the third stage of the cross-country competition, and as expected, thelevel of competition had intensified. Despite the challenge, our students rose to the occasion and put in outstanding performances. They showed incredible determination andran exceptionally well, achieving fantastic results they should be very proud of.
A big congratulations to Ryder, who finished an impressive 4th place and has now qualifiedfor the next stage — the Eastern Metropolitan Region Primary Cross Country Championships.
A fantastic achievement — well done!
Lastly, a big thank you to all the parents who supported the event and ensured their children could participate. Your support is greatly appreciated!
