Production 2025

Time table changes for production practice
A reminder that every Tuesday, the grades 5&6 are split into their production groups for practice. Please take note of which group your child is in.
Anyone who has been into the school over the last few weeks might have noticed the excitement in the air, as props, set pieces, and costumes are starting to pop up all over the school. At any point you might come across a witches broom, some yellow bricks, or some of the many many MANY munchkin costumes. A huge thank you to the teams of volunteers who are helping this magic to happen.
Keep an eye on Compass, and in your child’s school bag, as costume fittings have started, and will be continuing over the next few weeks. As students are fitted for their costumes they will be provided with details about any items that they will need to supply from home.
Rehearsals for the songs and dances are continuing in Performing Arts classes for all grade levels, and at recess and lunchtimes for students with speaking roles or featured dancers. If your child/ren would like to practice their songs or dances at home, these can be found on the Kalinda Online site. Navigate to Specialists, Performing Arts, Production 2025, Dance Along. On this site you will find all the dances that the class groups have been learning.
If your child has a speaking part, and they have lost their script, or if you or your family would like to read a full copy of the script this can also be found on the Production 2025 page. Please note that you will need to be logged in using a Kalinda Google account to access these sites.
If your child has a speaking part in production please encourage them to practise their lines at home, and then return their script to their school bag, as it is very important that all actors have their script at school every single day. We require all actors to have memorised their lines, stage directions and blocking by the end of term.
Further details about costume requirements, hair and make-up, ticket sales and more will be coming out soon, so please stay tuned. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out via email or come and see me.
Costumes and chairs and bears oh my!
This year there are only 2 groups where the whole class will need to wear a specific item.
Foundation students will all need grey leggings/plain pants and a grey long sleeved top. Light grey if possible. Eg: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/basic-trackpants-s167984/?selectedSwatch=Slvr%20Marle and https://www.kmart.com.au/product/waffle-henley-long-sleeve-t-shirt-s169107/?selectedSwatch=Kgry%20Marle or https://www.kmart.com.au/product/plain-crew-neck-sweatshirt-s167894/?selectedSwatch=Slvr%20Marle
3/4B will all need grey leggings or plain pants. Eg: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/roll-waist-leggings-s167836/?selectedSwatch=Castlerock or https://www.kmart.com.au/product/fold-down-flare-pants-s168267/?selectedSwatch=SLIGHTLY%20GREY%20MARLE
The other 3/4 classes will have their full costume provided for them.
The 1s and 2s are having costumes put together for them individually. They are all munchkins, so each costume is slightly different. They will each go home with a piece of paper telling them, personally, what they need to provide. These items will be simple, and the sorts of items that many people would already have, or would easily be able to borrow or buy. Eg: Plain coloured t-shirt, or white leggings etc. This process has started, but is not finished.
The 5/6s are all different depending on what part/s they play. Like the 1s and 2s many of them are having costumes put together for them individually. Again, they will each go home with a piece of paper telling them, personally, what they need to provide. These items will be simple, and the sorts of items that many people would already have, or would easily be able to borrow or buy. Eg: Plain coloured t-shirt, black pants or white leggings etc.
Grade 5/6s who are Citizens of Oz Ensemble might need to provide some simple sorts of items, but will be told individually.
Grade 5/6s who are Monkey Ensemble will need to provide a grey long sleeved top and grey leggings/plain pants.
Grade 5/6s who are Farmers Ensemble might need to provide brown or tan tops and/or pants, skirt, shorts or overalls, but they will be told individually.
Grade 5/6 who are main cast might need to provide items such as plain black pants, plain grey pants, grey long sleeved top, etc.
