We want Parents/Carers to tell us What You Think

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to celebrate our strengths and to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Wednesday 19 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Mt Buller Ski Camp — A Mountain of Memories

Last week, 48 of our students swapped the classroom for the slopes as we headed to the breathtaking Mt Buller for our annual ski camp — and what an experience it was!

For many students, strapping on a pair of skis for the first time felt nothing short of terrifying. Standing at the top of a snow-covered slope, legs wobbling, the mountain stretching out below — it would have been easy to hold back. But that's exactly what made this camp so special. Our students leaned in to the challenge. They fell down, got back up, and tried again. And again. Watching students who had never seen snow transform into confident skiers over just a few short days was nothing short of remarkable.

The progress was extraordinary. What took some of us years to learn, these young people tackled with grit and determination across just a handful of sessions. Their willingness to be beginners — to struggle, to laugh at themselves, and to keep going — speaks volumes about the kind of learners they are.

But perhaps what stood out most was the way our students showed up for one another. There were countless moments of encouragement on the slopes — a hand extended to help someone up, a cheer when a classmate finally nailed a turn, a patient word of support when nerves ran high. This group reminded us that resilience isn't just about pushing through your own challenges; it's also about lifting the people beside you.

Congratulations to all 48 students on an incredible week. You showed us what you're truly made of — and it's something to be very proud of.  A special mention to our staff (Emma Heron, Vanessa Burke, Tim MacLachlan, Caroline Morrison, Vanessa Stimar and Anna Prowse) who gave up the comfort of their own beds and families for the duration of the camp to support our students.  The camp would not have been possible without them - THANK YOU!

Police in Schools

Yesterday we welcomed Senior Constable Jac into our school, a member of the Proactive Policing Unit at Prahran Police Station. Her role focuses on building positive relationships between police, students, and schools — working preventatively rather than reactively. She facilitated a 60-minute workshop with our Year 6 students centred on the theme of Bullying, Upstander and Bystander Behaviours. The session complemented and reinforced the lessons already covered in our school curriculum, while also offering students valuable insight into how the Proactive Policing Unit supports this area of wellbeing — and the potential legal consequences of certain behaviours. We look forward to welcoming Senior Constable Jac and her team back to our school in the near future. 

ICAS Assessments

Students are currently undertaking assessments in the areas of English, Science and Maths. The students continue to show high levels of resilience and persistence when undertaking new things and when things are challenging, making us very proud of them.  We look forward to celebrating their achievements.

Leaving TPS? Moving House? Moving Overseas? Visa Expiring?

If you have any intentions to unfortunately leave TPS in the next 6 months, please let the school office know. Your decision doesn't need to be confirmed and doesn't mean your child loses their spot if you change your mind, but giving us a heads up is very helpful. This information is vital for the school to budget and plan for staffing in 2027. We don't want any children to be placed in classes that are too big or only have a few students, but this relies on us knowing who will be here. If you suspect you may be moving house, travelling overseas or you know your visa is expiring, please inform the school via email: toorak.ps@education.vic.gov.au at your earliest convenience.
