EASTERN METTROPOLITAN JUNIOR AND INTERMEDIATE HOCKEY COMPETITIONS
By Alex Robertson
This year, we managed to find numbers for three separate hockey teams for Term 3 Interschool sport. For the first time, we had a Year 7 team and a Year 8 team, as well as the Intermediate team. The Year 7 team, captained by Sujal Brar and Toby Gow went undefeated at division, qualifying directly for regionals. At regionals, they beat Lilydale Heights 3-0 but lost to Norwood and East Doncaster 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
The Year 8 team, captained by Alexis McManus, Kathir Elango Srilatha and Zalia Wright, were in a very tight group at division, with not a goal being scored in any matches. In the three-way shootout that followed, which consisted of penalty strokes, they unfortunately came second, scoring once.
The Intermediate team, captained by Jack Wright and Alex Robertson, won three of their four games at division, drawing the other one 0-0. Progressing to regionals, they won their pool comprehensively, winning by forfeit, beating Norwood 4-0 and Koonung 7-0. Unfortunately, in the regional final they lost 3-0 to Balwyn in their third attempt to win the pizza party promised to them by Mr Blattman in 2022.
Thank you so much to everyone in all of the teams for putting so much effort into these competitions and training. You have each gone above and beyond and been a delight to coach. A massive thank you also to Jack Wright, for coaching across every team with me, and Charlie Gow, for coaching the Intermediate boys at Regionals.
EASTERN METROPOLITAN JUNIOR TABLE TENNIS COMPETITION
By Soham Dhital
On Friday the 18th of October we took 6 students out to represent our college in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Table Tennis Championships. Our first game was against Wantirna Secondary college where we managed to win all 4 games plus the doubles, this game set us up in a good position for the rest of the day. Our second game was against East Doncaster where we managed to win 2 singles games, and due to tough opponents we lost the other games. With our solid performance we now made it to the semifinals. Our semi-finals were against Vermont secondary college where we ended up conceding in a 5-0 loss. Overall, a great effort from the boys and hope to see them win against next year.
EASTERN METROPOLITAN YEAR 7 BOYS TENNIS COMPETITION
On Monday, October 28th our Year 7 Boys competed in the EMR Tennis competition at North Ringwood Tennis Club. We started our pool matches promisingly, defeating Rowville Secondary College 4 sets to 2. We then came up against a very talented East Doncaster Secondary College, who were too strong and won all 6 sets. Our third match against Mooroolbark Secondary College was a very tight contest, and at the conclusion the teams couldn’t be separated on 3 sets each, and 16 games each, resulting in a tie. Despite not advancing, there is a lot of talent amongst the team, and they have a bright future ahead in our school competitions.
Last week, our Year 11 VM students successfully hosted the highly anticipated House Dodgeball Tournament! The event saw an impressive turnout each day, with 25-30 students proudly representing their house colours.
Our VM event team – Spiros, Nicholas, Xander, and Jack – worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly, and their efforts certainly paid off! Throughout the week, students displayed outstanding teamwork, culminating in a well-deserved win for Grevillea House.
A big thank you to all students for their sportsmanship and respect. We’re already looking forward to the next house event!

THANK YOU…
I would like to thank Alex Robertson, Jack Wright and Soham Dhital for their contribution to our sports program in Term 4. They have used their experience to run both training sessions and coach at our Interschool competitions. It is fantastic having students assist and further develop their leadership skills.
