Riding for Abbie Resilience Award 🏆
Across the weekend, officials, volunteers, and the sponsor herself will be looking for the rider who most demonstrates any of the following:
- Courage and composure under pressure
- A positive attitude, regardless of results
- Good sportsmanship towards officials, volunteers and others riders
- Kindness or encouragement towards others
- Determination after a mistake, fall or setback
- Horsemanship that puts the horse first
- Grace in both success and disappointment
- Overall strength of character throughout the event.
This award is only available due to the incredible support of Illoura Downs. Riding for Abbie was created in honour of Abbie, a young rider whose life changed in an instant following a devastating fall at a Pony Club gymkhana that left her a quadriplegic. At only 10 years old, her whole future was ahead of her. Her courage continues to inspire those around her. After purchasing Pantha, Abbie’s horse, Illoura Downs owner Silky was determined to ensure that Pantha lived out his days in a safe, loving home and was never defined by that single moment in time. Riding for Abbie has never been about promoting the Illoura Downs business. It exists to ensure Abbie knows she is not alone, and will never be forgotten, while standing beside every rider and family navigating life after serious equestrian accidents. This initiative is about turning heartbreak into awareness, solidarity and positive action because in our community, we ride together and we look after each other.
Zone Uniform
