Ponies Of The Week featured by Pony Club Australia

Foxy Wynara “Foxy” Lady is a 12.3hh liver chestnut Welsh B pony and the much-loved partner of Ava (9) from Pearcedale Pony Club.
Foxy has had an incredible journey, beginning in South Australia where she was bred as a show pony and later became a broodmare, producing three foals. Her quality lines are still used within Wynara Stud today.
Following her breeding career, Foxy has become a wonderful children’s pony, known for her calm and kind nature.
“Foxy has an amazingly kind temperament which has made her an incredible children's pony following her breeding career. She calmly turns her hoof to showing, dressage and jumping.”
Now 19 years old, Foxy continues to be Ava’s special “unicorn”, taking part in a wide range of Pony Club and local competitions.“ Foxy continues to be Ava's dancing partner and at the age of 19 is competing in a variety of Pony Club competitions as well as local shows.”
Together, the pair enjoy everything from time in the dressage arena to some memorable moments outside of competition. “The two not only enjoy stepping into the dressage arena but have also done some modelling together which was such a highlight.”At home and away, Foxy is a trusted and much-loved partner.
“She looks after her little rider with such care especially when out and about. Ava is truly lucky to have such a beautiful and kind pony.”
For Ava and her family, Foxy is a very special part of their Pony Club journey.
“Our family couldn't love this special pony more.”
Cheraton Brandy Snap, known as “Buddy”, is a 13hh, 13-year-old part Welsh gelding and the much-loved pony of Sage, who rides with Macarthur Pony Club.
Buddy’s family shared the story of how he came into Sage’s life at exactly the right time.
“Sage had just about hung up her riding boots after a tough knock to her confidence — the spark that once lit up every ride had dimmed. But sometimes, the right pony comes along at exactly the right moment… and that’s where Buddy’s story (re)begins.”
Buddy was bred at Cheraton Stud and started life with strong foundations before heading to a show home in Ballarat, where he quickly proved himself in the ring.
“From a young age, he showed talent, composure, and that special something that makes a pony stand out.”
He later moved to Allansford, where his resume continued to grow.
“A successful show pony with a surprising love for jumping, Buddy also kicked off his pony club career — earning a reputation for being wonderfully reliable. The kind of pony you can trust, no matter what.”
Like many ponies, Buddy’s journey continued as his rider outgrew him.
“But as happens in the pony world, legs grew… and Buddy didn’t.”
Buddy then headed to Queensland, where he spent six years helping another young rider build confidence.
“Over six years, Buddy became a true allrounder, taking on everything from dressage and interschools to barrel racing — and doing it all with his trademark steadiness and heart.”
Back in Victoria, Sage’s family had been following his journey from afar.
“We quietly followed his journey from afar, watching through Facebook and hoping… just maybe…”
Then the opportunity came.
“Then one day, there it was: advertised as a ‘mother’s dream.’Well — that was all we needed to hear.”
Buddy was purchased that very day and soon made his way back to Victoria.
Nearly two years on, Buddy has been nothing short of magical.
“Buddy has reignited Sage’s love for riding in the most gentle, patient way. Together, they’ve taken things slowly, rebuilding confidence stride by stride.”
These days, the pair are not just rebuilding — they’re thriving.
“Each day a little faster, a little higher, and loving every minute of it.”
Now, Sage and Buddy are enjoying everything Pony Club has to offer.
“From pony club at Macarthur PC, tetrathalon, to showing, show jumping, dressage, interschools, and trail rides — whatever the challenge, Sage and Buddy face it as a team. With smiles, determination, and a whole lot of heart.”
For Sage and her family, Buddy is everything they hoped for.
“We truly feel so lucky to have such a gorgeous, genuine, and willing pony in our paddock. We love you!”
Stories like Sage and Buddy’s remind us how the right pony can rebuild confidence, restore joy, and help riders move forward again.
Fairfield Park Perkins, affectionately known as “Perky”, is a 12.2hh Australian Riding Pony and a much-loved member of the Horsham Pony Club community in Victoria.
At 32 years young, Perky is a true legend of the Wimmera — a pony who has spent decades helping young riders find their confidence and learn the foundations of horsemanship.
Originally purchased by the Fiedler family as a reliable 15-year-old riding school pony, Perky made a seamless transition into Pony Club life, where he quickly became a trusted teacher for generations of riders.
Over the years, he has guided Asha and Paris Fiedler, along with many other Horsham Pony Club members, patiently and safely through their early riding journeys.
Today, Perky is still doing what he does best.
Now partnered with beginner rider Piper Cameron, he continues to show up at Pony Club with ears pricked, ready to pass on his knowledge, kindness, and steady nature to the next generation.
More than just a pony, Perky represents everything Pony Club is about — learning, confidence, and the special horses who help shape young riders.
Stories like Perky’s remind us just how valuable these experienced ponies are, quietly teaching lesson after lesson and leaving a lasting impact on every rider they meet.
