Vision Testing – permission note
Year 1 students have received a note about vision testing this week. Mr K does this testing at school. This is an opportunity to pick up vision concerns that may be impacting your child’s learning. It is an initial screening, and the next step would be to visit an optometrist. If your child missed the testing last year, please ask for a note.
Please return the permission note as soon as possible.
Strawberry/Tomato containers needed
We need lots of empty plastic containers (see picture) with lids for the onigiri (Japanese rice balls). Students will use these for their Celebration of Learning. We would appreciate washed containers sent in as you are finished with them. Thank you.
No extra items from home
Some students are bringing in items such as toys from home. Also, some items from the classroom have been taken home. Please check your child’s bag and have the conversation about not bringing in extra items.
Home Inquiry
What foods do you grow at home? If you don’t grow food, what do other people you know grow, like your neighbours or family members? What do people do with the food e.g. eat it raw, cook it, pickle it?
Reading: every night for 10-15 minutes. Please listen to your child read the decodable books and ask the ‘check for understanding’ questions at the back. The ‘Interest books' with coloured round stickers on the front may need to be read together.
