College Angling Club's Yellow Rock Expedition
The College Angling Club commenced its 2025 season with an expedition to Yellow Rock. Lachie Oldfield Mann, a member since 2024, shared his experiences from the trip.
The day began early, with club members arriving prepared for the challenges ahead. Lachie's approach to preparation involves assembling his equipment the night before.
The excursion yielded notable results, with Ben Stacey catching a 39cm salmon, setting a high standard for the day. Jack Oldfield Mann was second best with two 38cm catches. Lachie was satisfied with the overall catch, stating it was a great day all round with a lot of fish on the hook.
As the club progresses, excursions will include river, beach, and lake locations, exploring fishing types, and building on student knowledge of gear and fish. If you're interested in joining the Angling Club, please speak with Mr Naidu.
Lachie:
"Beyond fishing, the trip offered opportunities for exploring. Heston and I hiked and climbed to gain a better vantage point of Yellow Rock Beach".
The Angling Club is a great way to form new friendships, and Mr Naidu assists members in improving their angling skills and knowledge. I really like Angling Club because I get to spend the day catching fish with my mates.
My tip for new members, is to make sure you have the right gear and get a good night's rest before the trip."
