First Aid Update

First Aid Procedures at Our School

The health and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. Our first aid procedures are designed to ensure that students receive appropriate care while keeping families informed about any injuries that occur during the school day.

Head Knocks

If a student receives a head knock, our first aid staff will assess the injury and provide the necessary care. As a precaution, the student will be given a yellow sticker to wear for the remainder of the day. This alerts all staff that the student has experienced a head knock and should continue to be monitored both in the classroom and during recess and lunch breaks.

Injuries Requiring a Phone Call Home

Parents and carers will be contacted by phone if their child experiences any of the following injuries:

  • Head injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Dental (teeth) injuries
  • Suspected fractures or broken bones

A phone call allows us to discuss the injury directly with families, explain the care provided, and advise if any further medical assessment is recommended.

Compass Notifications

For all other first aid incidents, details of the injury and treatment provided will be recorded on the Compass portal, along with an email sent to parents. Phone contact with the school to acknowledge the incident is not required. If we feel a phone call discussion is warranted, you will receive one from us.

Parents and carers can access this information through their Compass account, ensuring they are kept informed of any minor injuries their child may have sustained during the school day.

Thank you for supporting our commitment to maintaining a safe and caring environment for all students.
