Principal's Report

AEU 24-hour stoppage of work
The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take strike action on Thursday 23 July 2026.
At this stage, teachers are not required to advise the school whether they will participate until Monday 20 July. As a result, we are not yet able to confirm what impact the industrial action may have on normal school operations.
Once we receive this information, we will advise families as soon as possible about:
- which classes will operate as normal
- whether any programs will need to be modified
- whether some students may not be required to attend school.
We understand that families may need time to make alternative arrangements and will provide further information as quickly as we can.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Caring Koalas Update
Our students have been doing an amazing job earning Caring Koalas raffle tickets by demonstrating our school values and following our SWPBS expectations.
So far, students have earned almost 150 gum leaves, which is a fantastic achievement and reflects the positive choices being made across the school.
Congratulations to 3/4AB, who became the first class to earn a whole-class reward. This is a wonderful result and a credit to the students for working together.
I would also like to thank our SWPBS Captains, Ruby, Lydia, Asher and Isla, for all their hard work. They are doing an amazing job supporting the program, recognising positive behaviour and helping to promote our school values.
Well done to all our students. We look forward to seeing many more gum leaves added to our Caring Koalas tree.
Voluntary Curriculum Contributions
Voluntary curriculum contributions make an enormous difference to what we are able to provide for students at Macedon Primary School.
The money received through these contributions is spent directly on resources and materials for our students. It helps us purchase classroom supplies, art and STEM materials, sporting equipment, books, digital resources and items needed for practical, hands-on learning activities.
These contributions allow our teachers to plan more engaging and exciting learning experiences. They give students opportunities to create, experiment, investigate and apply their learning using a wider range of materials and equipment.
We understand that this is a difficult time financially for many families and that everyone’s circumstances are different.
Unfortunately, the amount received this year is considerably lower than at the same time last year. This means we currently do not have the resources to provide some of the activities and learning opportunities we had hoped to offer.
All contributions are voluntary. Any contribution, including a partial payment, is greatly appreciated and helps us provide more opportunities for our students.
Contributions can be made through Compass at any time during the year.
Thank you to the families who have already contributed. Your support has a direct and positive impact on the learning experiences we can provide for our students.
Attendance Update
Regular attendance is very important and makes a significant difference to student learning. In Victoria, all children aged 6 to 17 are required to attend school every day unless an exemption has been granted, and parents and carers must provide an explanation for any absence.
At Macedon Primary School, we are aiming for our average number of absences per child to be under 16.5 days for the year. If a child is averaging more than 5 days absent per term, Sue, our Mental Health and Wellbeing teacher, will contact families to discuss how we can work together to support improved attendance. We also ask that any family holidays during school time are discussed with the school and approved in advance.
| Number of Absences | Average Number of Absences |
| 1689 | 7.44 |
| Number of Late arrivals | Average number of Late arrivals |
| 813 | 3.58 |
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
