Winter Solstice Art Show 2026

The Art Room and JCB were transformed into a vibrant celebration of creativity for the 2026 Macedon Primary School Winter Solstice Art Show at the end of Term 2. Families enjoyed exploring an incredible collection of colourful, imaginative and collaborative artworks, showcasing the creativity and dedication of every student.

Some of the standout displays included the Foundation/1 students' vibrant shopping bag artworks, transformed into explosions of colour using pastel and hole-punched paper shapes. The Grade 1/2 students' striking shadow silhouette portraits painted with beautiful gradient colours, and the Grade 3/4 students' bioluminescent "peek-through" installation, featuring glow-in-the-dark painted sea creatures. The Grade 5/6 students spent many weeks giving new life to second-hand picture frames, transforming them into unique and colourful works of art, while the Grade 2/3 students created a stunning installation using collected glass bottles, hand-painted paper vases and decorative painted sticks.

Every class also worked collaboratively to create large-scale pieces that added extra flair to the exhibition. These included the Foundation/1 jigsaw puzzle canvases, Grade 1/2 hanging pattern loop displays the Grade 3/4 hanging painted paper flowers, and the interactive human "photo booths" designed and hosted by our Grade 5/6 students on the evening of the event.

Congratulations to all of our students for their enthusiasm, creativity and hard work throughout the term. The quality of the artwork on display was outstanding, and everyone should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

A special thank you to our Art Captains, Coen, Sean and Indi, along with the many Grade 5/6 students who generously gave their time to help set up and pack down the exhibition. Your support helped make the event such a wonderful success.
