Our amazing sport stars!

Excelling in Sports at Holy Cross

On Monday the 15th of June the Grade 5/6s went to Cobblebank Stadium to play netball. Our school did amazingly well and we had so much fun, so thank you to the coaches, teachers and parents that came along.

Recount from Olivia Gerada - Girls’ A Team

I was in the As netball team with a lot of  other classmates. We played 5 games and we only won 2 of those games against Willowbank and St Brigid’s.

We had an amazing experience. I would like to thank all the teachers and parent helpers who coached or supported us.

I had a great day! -Olivia Gerada

Recount from Olivia Traill - Girls’ B team

The Girls B team played Riddells Creek for our first game and sadly lost. After that we played Gisborne and also lost again. We had our byes, then came back to play Willowbank and we made our first win of the day. For our last game before finals, we played Mount Macedon and also won, so we ended up 3rd in our pool. So we ended up playing Macedon for our final to determine who would come 3rd overall. We lost that game but I can tell everyone had so much fun during the day, and our final placement was 4th out of 9 teams.

Recount from Oliver Lloyd and Mitchell Harris - Boys/Mixed Team

On Monday, the 15 of June, 10 year five-six boys represented Holy Cross at the district netball. We played 3 games in the group stage, then we played the grand final. Our first game was against Macedon; it was a tough first half, but we came out with a win. The second game was against Gisborne; they were a good team and kept trying, but we overcame them and won our second. The next game we played was against Mt Macedon. The game was an easy game; we won 21-0. Now it was the time for the grand final against Braemar. They came out strong with the first 4 goals, but we didn't give up; we kept fighting. The game was a nail-biter, goal by goal, and we were catching up to them. In the last few minutes, we scored two to get us the lead. We held the lead for the rest of the game. We won 9-8, we were all so happy for each other, and we celebrated as a team. It was such a great experience. Thank you to all the parents, helpers, and teachers for making it happen. Also, a special mention for all the girls from the other Holy Cross teams for supporting us, your cheering made a difference! - Mitchell Harris and Oliver Lloyd 5/6 F

Finnan Wins, Max Smashes It, and the Rest of Us Are Just Trying to Stay Warm!

A huge congratulations to Finnan Howley and Max Allen who have qualified for State Trials for Cross Country! An amazing achievement! Finnan actually WON the regional event as well for his age group, and Max came in 12th. We wish this amazing athletes all the best at State trials!

Finnan also needs to be congratulated. On the weekend, while the rest of us were rugged up and trying to stay out of the weather, Finnan participated in the U12’s State All Schools Cross Country Event this morning, representing Holy Cross. This is a Nationals qualifying event with the top 10 progressing to Nationals. He finished 5th in his age group! I know Finnan puts a lot of time and effort to preparing himself for these events, so he should be so proud of all he continues to achieve! Well done Finnan, and well done to your parents on supporting you to achieve at this level.
