Students have worked hard, with their Grade 4 peers to create some models of all things H2O. Students worked in small groups to design their models based on the content that we have been exploring. This included the water cycle, pollution in our waterways, and filtration systems.
It was wonderful to see teams working collaboratively, and seeing their designs come to life.

Over the last two weeks we have been summarising our mentor text, Charlie and the Chocoalte Factory. Students have reflected back to the beginning of the text and planned out their summary based on 'somebody, wanted, but, so, then'. They have planned out each element of the text, and are now bringing it all together in a written summary.
Students have been creating their own front cover pages, too, which we can't wait to share with you once they're complete.
We have just about mastered some of our addition and subtraction strategies. Students have been building consistency in carrying and borrowing when adding and subtraction. We had a 'beat the teacher' competition with some different sums. A few students were close, but Mrs Lofts took the win this time. I am sure it won't be long until the students are in the lead. We will continue to build our fluency in number facts to increase our speed and accuracy.
