Intermediate Band Tour

The Intermediate Band went on its annual primary school tour this week. This year for something a bit different, the tour started in the music centre with Wild Cherry students walking down to attend a concert. The bus was then loaded in the rain and the band headed off to Lucknow Primary School. The tour finished at Nicholson Primary School where the band and audience squeezed into the small hall adjacent to the school. It was a new experience for the percussion section to play in the kitchen.

The performance program included some old favourites like Rock Around the Clock, Theme from Jurassic Park and Accidently in Love, as well as some new pieces, Dark Ride, Cook Strait Crossing and East Gippsland Festive Overture. There were also instrument demonstrations from each band section and some dancing for the audience.

A huge congratulations to the 30 band students involved. They performed beautifully and behaved in a professional manner all day. The set up and pack up was done especially well, given the rain and difficult performance situations. Thank you to James Newman and Sarah Caddie for changing their days to support the tour.

It was lovely also to receive some thank you cards after the event from the students at Nicholson Primary School.

AMEB Examinations

Three of our music students, Maali, Rebecca and Cody, will be doing their AMEB exams in Sale next week. Rehearsals with the accompanist Julie Lockhart have been taking place this week. An AMEB exam is a very good thing for students to put themselves through, demonstrating a high level of commitment and hard work. We wish the students all the best and know that whatever the outcome, they have already achieved much by just doing the exam.
