EASTERN METROPOLITAN REGION SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

On Tuesday, March 26th we had Eloise Triferis, Atsuya Kawasaki, Oscar Lacey, Lucia Shaw, Maddy Carlton and Ava O’Connor represent the school at the EMR Swimming Carnival. Whilst we didn’t have any students place, the calibre of swimmers at this event was of a high standard, and they should all be very proud of qualifying for this event.

SENIOR INTERSCHOOL SPORT

On Monday, February 19th we had four teams represent the school in baseball and volleyball, in the Monash Interschool sport competition. The baseball team lost their first match 8-1, but improved in their next match, losing a close and competitive contest 4-3. Our two girls' volleyball teams tried hard, but came up against some strong opposition. They did however win some matches across the day. The boys' volleyball competition was extremely tight, with many entertaining matches finishing 1-set all and being decided by total points. At the end of the competition, our record was 3 wins and 1 loss, to finish 2nd. Well done to all participants for their effort in training and on the day of competition.

INTERMEDIATE INTERSCHOOL SPORT

On Tuesday, March 5th we had 7 teams represent the school in cricket, tennis and volleyball. All students represented the school in an extremely positive way and it was pleasing to receive positive feedback from officials at the events on the conduct of our teams. Our Boy's tennis team narrowly missed winning their competition.

JUNIOR INTERSCHOOL SPORT

On Wednesday March 27th we had approximately 150 students representing the school in 16 teams in the Junior Interschool sport competition in baseball, cricket, tennis and volleyball. At the conclusion of these competitions we had four volleyball teams and our baseball team finish 2nd, with our Year 7 Boys tennis team winning their competition and advancing to the Regional competition. I’d also like to acknowledge the following students who did a fantastic job in assisting with coaching these teams; Ritia Tuane, Phoebe Van Oosten, Sabra Hadjisofocleous, Will Amiatu, Campbell Brown, Jaewon Leon, She Sidhu and Kenny Poirier.

VICTORIAN STATE ATHLETICS

Year 10 student Will Amiatu competed at the State Athletics Championships recently where he achieved the following results:

1st – Discus, Hammer Throw

2nd – Shot Put

4th – Javelin

We congratulate Will on this fantastic achievement.
