A Night at the Movies: A Cross‑Faculty Celebration of Creativity
On the evening of 14 September, the school community gathered for A Night at the Movies, an event that brought together the talents of both our Music and Visual Arts students in a vibrant celebration of creativity.
The Music Department led the evening with a dynamic program featuring renowned movie soundtracks and timeless film scores. Senior Concert Band, Big Band, Vocal Ensemble and Senior Choir were among the ensembles performing, each contributing to a rich and cinematic atmosphere. Their performances were accompanied by spectacular footage on the big screen, creating an immersive experience that highlighted the power of music in film.
Complementing the musical program, the Visual Arts Department presented a curated selection of artworks from Years 7–11. The display showcased a diverse and lively mix of clay busts, portraiture and works responding to themes such as Art and Activism and A Sense of Place. Year 8, transformed part of the school into a full “apocalypse” after enthusiastically interpreting their brief on dystopian environments. Several year groups also included movie recommendations adding an engaging and thoughtful link to the evening’s cinematic theme.
The combined efforts of both faculties created a multifaceted celebration of the arts, offering families and students an opportunity to experience the breadth of creativity flourishing within our school.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the entire Visual Arts Faculty for their dedication and the tremendous work that went into preparing this display, and to the Music Department for presenting such an inspiring and memorable event and welcoming the collaboration between Visual Arts and Music.
