Our Foundation families joined us last Thursday for Prayer in Pyjamas. Dressed up snug and warm in their PJs, the children and their families reflected on what prayer is, how we pray, why we pray, and where we pray. Together with their families, they created a prayer mat, a candle and a prayer cube to make a prayer space at home. In our final prayer, we included prayer as listening, blessing, formal prayer and prayer as song. Fr Michael even paid us a visit with his stuffed toy ‘Star’ from the movie wish.

Our Year 5/6 students and families had the pleasure of hearing the inspirational Joshua Angrisano from Icon Ministry. Joshua shared his story and music with us, making connections with the Sacrament of Confirmation. He spoke to the children about making the choice using the analogy of choosing to wear the jersey, with the sacrament being the beginning of that commitment to a faith filled life.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

Every June, the Catholic Church sets aside time to focus on the Feast of the Sacred Heart. This day is full of meaning and tradition. It gives people a great chance to think about the big love of Jesus Christ for everyone. This time invites us to think about the mercy and kindness that Jesus shares with us. This celebration asks us to come closer to the heart of Jesus. We thank him for the good he gives to us and think about the love he shows for each one of us. The day is also a chance to say sorry for our wrongs. It helps us get closer to Jesus and build a better bond with him.

Next week, we will be celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday 12th June with Mass at 11.30am in Brigid Hall. We are continuing the tradition to show God’s love by collecting donations for the local chapter of the St Vincent de Paul Society. We are encouraging families who can to contribute by donating non-perishable food items, toiletries, and other essential goods which will provide much-needed support to those facing hardship during the colder months. We will be holding a ‘Casual Clothes’ day on Thursday 11th June.  All children who bring a donation to school can wear casual clothes on this day.
