Learning and Teaching

MACS’ Vision for Learning
Our commitment to the Vision for Learning continues to be evident through our evidence informed practices, high expectations for all learners, strong instructional teaching, and the creation of learning environments where every student can thrive. We remain focused on a disciplined and strategic approach to teaching and learning, ensuring all programs align with the Science of Learning and principles of explicit instruction. By establishing optimal conditions for learning, we support student engagement, growth and achievement, enabling every learner to experience success and reach their full potential. We are so proud of the work our children are producing the results certainly indicate that explicit instruction is working well at St Brigid’s!
Learning Walks
This week, our staff have participated in Learning Walks with a particular focus on our Daily Review in Mathematics. The purpose of the Learning Walks is to establish a whole-school, consistent practice within our school through observations, coaching, and feedback. We are really proud of our staff and the incredible things they are doing to support our students.
Highlights From Our Junior Classes
Time Travel in Foundation.
Foundation students have enjoyed exploring artefacts from the past and discovering what life was like long ago. They are now learning about how things have changed over time, with a particular focus on transportation and the ways people travel today compared to the past.
Science in 1C!
We often say Melbourne experiences four seasons in one day, but 1C have enjoyed four seasons in one term! Thanks to the amazing tree created by Mrs Jansz in the corner of the classroom, students explored each season and discovered how seasonal changes affect plants and animals. Through a range of learning experiences, they developed a deeper understanding of the natural world around them.
My Country, My City, My Suburb!
In 2A, students have been exploring the geography of where they live and their place in the world. They have created wonderful artworks that start with our planet and zoom all the way into their suburb and home address, helping them understand how places are connected from a global to a local scale.
With thanks
