I am beginning the newsletter with a desperate call out to all parents who have not yet completed the 2025 Parents / caregivers / guardians survey. As of today, we have only had 10% of our families respond. I have resent the link to the survey to all our families today. It is important that we receive a high rate of returns on the survey, so that we have a broad sample of ideas and opinions, to inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
We all enjoyed a fabulous Book Week Parade. Thank you to the parents who attended and for your enthusiasm in preparing the wonderful costumes that our children were wearing. It never ceases to amaze me the creativity that is displayed at this special occasion. During the day our students all enjoyed an informative and interactive presentation by illustrator Ben Wood. Ben was a huge success sharing his own experiences on how he became an illustrator and then the students worked on their own illustrations under the guidance of Ben.
Congratulations to our Aerobics Team who successfully competed in the FISAF National Championships at the Gold Coast on the weekend. I was lucky enough to be there and witness the students all achieve their personal best. It was an amazing day of competition. Our boys’ team, with Eddie (Yr6), Kemindu (Yr6), Alex (Yr5), Arvind (Yr4), and Josh (Yr4) won a silver medal Go Syndal!!
On the last day of term, Friday 19th September students are encouraged to wear their footy colours. This is a long-standing tradition which also includes our special hot dog lunch organised by our wonderful Parent’s Association.
Understanding that all our Year 6 students will be heading off to Secondary School in 2026, we need to know if any other students are leaving us. If you could let the Office know as soon as possible that would be greatly appreciated. Plus, if you know of anyone looking to enrol at Syndal South Primary can you please encourage them to do so as soon as possible. Thank you.
We have a ‘Working Bee’ planned for Sunday 14th September from 9.00 to 11.00am. We have a large skip being delivered on the Friday. The focus for the morning will be on clearing out the outside area adjacent to the Art room so that this can be utilised by students in art classes. The other project is dismantling the old hot houses. Other tasks to be done include sweeping, and raking, around the playground equipment. The more people we have attend the more work will get done. A light morning tea will be provided. Students that attend the working bee can go into the draw to win a prize.
It is great to see the progress being made on the toilet refurbishment.
Finally, I would like to wish our Syndal South Athletics team all the best for the upcoming District Aths meet on Friday 12th September. A final reminder that we have our Father’s Day Stall on tomorrow.
To all our wonderful dad’s and grandad’s I hope you all enjoy your very special day on Sunday.
Enjoy the fortnight ahead.
