Before and Afterschool Care

Hello Families,

We hope you have had an amazing fortnight!

Potion Club

On Friday, we made a rainbow potion in Potion Club.  This consisted of dissolving different amounts of sugar in water and adding food dye. The children were interested in the science behind how the layers didn't combine and each colour stayed separated to create a beautiful rainbow. It was all about density!

Next week, we're preparing to make a love potion . . .

STEM Club

In STEM Club we made elephants toothpaste! This experiment developed children's scientific knowledge and skills.

They learnt all about yeast and how it causes different effects, like in this experiment where it erupted when combined with hydrogen peroxide. Further, they completed a brief, including a hypothesis that they developed together and then reflected on in light of our observations.

Cooking Club

At before-school care, we made raspberry and white chocolate muffins. Children strengthened their fine motor skills as they combined a variety of ingredients. They also developed essential life skills through this cooking activity! After they baked, we enjoyed them for a delicious breakfast.

Culture Club

This week we visited China in Culture Club!

We did a cooking activity within this, where we made spring rolls. Children made healthy choices as they chose what to put in their spring rolls, and they had heaps of fun rolling them. Educators helped cook them, but they got to enjoy eating them with their friends. Here, they shared their knowledge about China! Then, they added another page to their passports, including something new they learnt about the country, as well as a word or phrase. They also drew the flag and then received a new stamp!

Next week, we're looking forward to visiting Korea.
