Business Day Out

On Wednesday the 29th of May, Year 9 and 10 students participated in the Business Day Out in Ballarat. They kicked off the day with a visit to the Wendouree Performing Arts Centre, to hear from Nik and Harry Robinson, co-founders of Good Citizens Eyewear.

Nik, a man of many talents, decided to put his creative and problem-solving skills to the test in 2018, attempting to make a positive difference to the world’s ongoing plastic issues. Nik, his wife and two sons, Harry, 13 and Archie, 12, set up Good Citizens Eyewear, a company where the balance of power is split equally between each family member. Together, Nik and Harry explained how they run their company and shared insights into their journey so far, in the hope of inspiring more young entrepreneurs. Students, intrigued by the story, asked questions when they had the chance.

Feeling motivated, the next stop was lunch at Lake Wendouree, before heading to the Regent Theatre to see The Fall Guy, during which students enjoyed popcorn and ice cream.

In what was an exciting and eventful day out, all students displayed excellent behaviour. Special thanks to the teachers who made the day possible; Mrs Powlett, Mr Wright, Mr Tatchell and Miss Blackburn.
