Intermediate Soccer

On Thursday the 30th of May, the Year 9/10 Boys and Girls Soccer teams headed to Ballarat to play in the Eureka Division Soccer Competition.

The boys' team started the day against a tough opponent, Ballarat High School. Our defence tried hard, with Liam Sage holding strong in the midfield, however a few late goals saw us go down 0-5.

Our second game, against Phoenix College, was a game where we could sense victory. Tom Kehoe, and Aris Damalas linked up well, finding Harry Welsh, who booted a cracking goal, only for the referee to declare it was offside and take it from us. Phoenix went on to score a goal down the other end, beating us 0-1.

Our final game was against Woodman’s Hill, who came out firing from the get-go. Tom Grant battled hard in Goalkeeper, but it wasn’t enough, as we went down 0-5.

After an extended warm up with Coach Webb, the girls' team took the field against an aggressive Ballarat High School. After an injury to red-hot defender, Kiarah Ford, the rest of the team battled hard in her absence, with the motto “Do it for Kiarah” ringing true. Courtney Armeni dominated in Goalkeeper, blocking all but one goal. Alas, we ended up going down 0-1.

Our second and final game was up against a super talented Mount Clear College. Young star Milly Kerr battled hard in defence, alongside Skye Dridan, the ‘human brick wall’. In what was a highly skilled game with great sportsmanship on display, Mount Clear kicked away late, beating us 0-5.

Overall, it was a great day and despite no wins recorded, we represented the school well. We’d like to thank the ‘Supercoach’, Mr Webb, and Mr Sev, whose coaching record now sits at 0-13.
