Diocesan Gala Day Wrap-Up

Wow! What a day both of our Years 5-6 and 3-4 football teams had on Friday. Due to both teams having to play at the same times on different fields, Mrs Powell managed the senior squad for the tournament and they started off the day with impressive style as they defeated St Joseph's Primary, Quirindi 3-1. The Clark brothers scored all of the goals and special mention goes to Digby as he apparently scored one of the goals of the tournament by producing a rocket outside the goal box that went in the top corner. Very impressive!

The senior's second game was another victory as they defeated Holy Trinity 2-0. Bentley was the star of the show by scoring two goals. The following two games were against St Nicholas' Primary, Tamworth and St Xavier's Primary, Gunnedah and unfortunately, our team lost both games. However, they still came second in their group and qualified for the quarter-finals where they played another Holy Trinity side and they went down 2-0. Overall this was an impressive achievement as it was the first time a number of our players played their first competitive football game. Also, in most of the games they had no reserves, some of the players suffered injuries and the heat played a contributing factor as well. However, all players should be very proud of what they had achieved on the day.

The Years 3-4 team's first game was up against St Edward's and unfortunately went down 2-0. In the second game, they played against St Xavier's Primary and won the match 1-0 with a great goal scored by Shaun. Following this, the team played St Francis Xavier's, Narrabri, and again Digby scored another fantastic goal by launching another rocket close to the halfway line and scored another later on. Shaun and Lochie also scored goals with the final score being 4-0. The next game saw our team take on St Nicholas' Primary, Tamworth who played in the final later in the day and after matching them for most of the game, St Nicholas' took their chances and won 2-0. We went down 2-1 in a cliffhanger against St Philomena's, Moree with Rebee scoring an excellent goal. In the final pool game, despite the heat and fatigue, we finished off the day with a 2-1 victory over St Joseph's Primary, Glen Innes with Digby and Shaun scoring the goals, which left the team manager very proud of what the team had achieved throughout the day.

Thanks again to Mrs Powell for assisting with managing the senior team as well as Mrs Partridge and Mrs Blomfield for supporting the team throughout the day.

Polding Athletics Carnival-Friday 13th October

During the holidays  Annie, Grace S, Lachie and Jessica will be completing their final preparations for the upcoming Polding Athletics Carnival that will be taking place on Friday 13th October in Sydney. We wish you all of the best and know that you will be great ambassadors for St Patrick's Primary and the Armidale Diocese at this event.

Tennis For Sport

Our tennis program will conclude tomorrow, Friday 22nd September. A big thank you goes out to Mrs Emma Wauch for leading the program. The students have enjoyed all of the activities and skills sessions that have been conducted. Hopefully, a number of our students will take up playing tennis in the very near future.

St Patrick's Primary Sports Handbook

St Patrick's now has an official sports handbook. This book is designed to give all members associated with our school a clearer understanding of when our school conducts our various sporting carnivals, the processes/qualifying times involved for students who want to represent our school at Diocesan sporting events as well as an explanation of the representative sporting pathways your child may want to undertake in their respective sports.
