Mr Hyatt

Wow! Where has Term 3 gone?

As you are receiving this edition of the newsletter, we are in the final stages of another term. As I mentioned last week, it is quite a shock that we are already at this stage of the academic year and it only seems like yesterday I was working with the staff on the first day of the term. However, looking back, Term 3 has been very busy indeed and it has been at times a hectic but rewarding journey with a number of highlights. But I am definitely looking forward to the break.

Anyway, I would like to thank all members of our school community for their support throughout the term. Have A Restful And Safe Holiday. Enjoy the beautiful spring weather. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 9th October.

Term 4 - Summer Uniform

Students return to school on Monday 9th October in their summer uniform.

Diocesan Gala Day

Well done to all of our Years 3-6 students who played football and netball at the Diocesan Gala Day at Tamworth last Friday. I was the manager of our Years 3-4 football team and I nearly went down in sympathy with both of our football teams as the players struggled with the heat, playing with minimal reserves and having to keep backing up again and again for most of the day. By the end of the competition, most of the players only had enough energy to stagger under the closest tree, lie down, catch their breath and reflect on what they had achieved throughout the day.

We were the smallest school competing at the gala day, but we definitely gave the larger schools that competed throughout the diocese a run for their money. Our Years 5-6 team came second in their group and were knocked out in the quarter-finals, while the Years 3-4 team placed third in their pool with three wins and three losses.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch both of our netball teams play but I heard all of the girls had a great day. It was the first time any of our girls had played netball competitively and even though both teams didn't win any games on the day, they were very competitive, enthusiastic, and really enjoyed themselves.

Thanks again to some of our parents who came to assist with managing and supporting all of our teams on the day, it is very much appreciated. Also, a special mention needs to go to The Fruit Shop for kindly donating two fruit trays that were very popular with all of our players. The watermelon and oranges were definitely refreshing after playing in the heat!

A full report of the day is included in the sports section of this newsletter.

Term 4 Excursion Update

Very soon all classes will be participating in their major excursions for the year. In the first week of Term 4, all K-2 students will be traveling to Tamworth to watch 'Possum Magic' at the Capital Theatre. Further information, including costs, times and permission requests was sent home to all K-2 families last week.

The Year 3-4 students will be participating in an overnight excursion to Thalgarrah Environment Education Centre on the 23rd and 24th of November. Mrs Makeham and myself will be supervising the students on this excursion. More information will be sent home at the beginning of Term 4.

Also, more information went home to all of our Years 5-6 families in regard to their major excursion to Coffs Harbour from the 23rd to the 27th October. Mrs Davey and myself will be supervising the students on this excursion and looking at the itinerary, we are going to have a great time. Parents need to be aware that they need to complete their child's registration on the online portal before Monday 9th October. The link to access the online portal is included in the note that went home to all families via Compass earlier this week.  Thanks again to over half of the families who have already completed the online portal.

Thank you to all the families who have paid the full cost of the Coffs Harbour excursion. Please be reminded that all students attending the excursion need to have payments finalised by the 30th September 2023.

The link below is a copy of the letter that was sent home to all of our Years 5-6 families. If anyone is encountering any difficulties and/or has any further questions/queries in regard to the Coffs Harbour Excursion, please feel free to contact the school.

Award For This Week Is.......

Congratulations to Harper who received this week's 'Wearing Uniform With Pride' award. Again, well done Harper, as all of us have noticed how you always wear both your sports and full winter uniform with pride. The next 'Wearing Uniform With Pride' award will be handed out in Week 2, next term.
