Courage to Care: A New Year, a Continuing Journey
As we approach the end of the school year and enter the season of Advent, our College community finds ourselves at a beautiful moment of reflection and anticipation. We look back with gratitude on the year that has been and begin to prepare our hearts and minds for what lies ahead.
Throughout 2025, we have been shaped by our College theme, “Pave the Way.” This theme has invited us to recognise the importance of the paths we forge each day through our actions, words, and intentions. We have seen students, staff and families live this theme through kindness, leadership, resilience, and acts of faith in their everyday lives. Together we have paved the way for one another, creating spaces of welcome, inclusion, and hope. We celebrate this with deep gratitude.
As we now turn our eyes toward 2026, we are excited to embrace our new theme, “Courage to Care.” This theme flows naturally from the year we have shared. It calls each of us to step even more boldly into responsibility, compassion, and justice. Courage to Care challenges us to act not only when it is easy, but especially when it is not. It asks us to see the needs of others, to speak up for what is right, and to grow in empathy and awareness. It encourages us to make care visible.
This time of year brings us the season of Advent, a season of waiting, preparing, and strengthening hope. In the story of Christmas, God enters the world not with power or spectacle, but through vulnerability, gentleness and courage. The birth of Christ invites us to slow down, to reflect, and to recognise the sacredness of the everyday. As we finish the school year and move into the holiday period, we are reminded that Christmas is ultimately a celebration of God’s care for us, and an invitation that we too become light for the world. As our students and staff begin a well-deserved break, we hope this season brings rest, renewal, and joy. May your homes be places of peace and celebration. May the New Year open with possibility and promise. And may we return in 2026 ready to continue our Mercy mission with hearts full of courage, gratitude, and care.
On behalf of our College community, we thank you for paving the way with us, and we look forward to the year where we continue, together, to have the courage to care. Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas, a restful holiday, and a hopeful New Year.
