Hanging Rock

On Friday, the 14 November, the Year 8 cohort went on an excursion to the iconic Hanging Rock.  After arriving by bus, we began the day with a short briefing from our teachers about safety and then met our tour guides for the day, Shane and Sarah, who told us some of the history of the area.  Then we started the hike up the rock.  As we went, we paused at certain points, learning more about the geology and cultural significance of Hanging Rock.

Along the way, we saw amazing rock formations, native plants, and quite a few beautiful native birds and other fauna.  When we reached the top, we enjoyed the incredible views of the surrounding countryside and took many photos.  The views were breathtaking and definitely worth the 1.8 kilometer hike.

After the walk, we spent some time in the picnic area, where we relaxed, chatted, and enjoyed all the food we brought for a wonderful picnic with our friends.  By the end of the day, everyone was tired but happy.  It was a great opportunity to explore nature, bond with classmates, and experience one of Victoria’s most iconic landmarks.
