Advent

On Monday, we marked the beginning of a sacred and exciting season in the Church year: Advent. Advent means 'coming,' and it is a time of special preparation. We are getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas, while also preparing our hearts for His final coming. This season calls us to be alert, hopeful, and ready to welcome the Light of the World.

We lit the first candle of the Advent Wreath. This wreath symbolises eternity and the unending love of God, and its four candles guide our focus. The first candle, the Prophet's Candle, represents Hope. The prophets of the Old Testament waited patiently for centuries, proclaiming God's promise that a Saviour would be born. Their message gives us confidence that God always keeps His promises.

Hope is not just wishing; it is trusting in God’s plan, even when things are difficult. Hope encourages us to stay awake and to work for the Kingdom of God right here, right now.

Join us on Monday as we celebrate the second week of Advent and light our second candle.
