Year 2 - Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you had a wonderful break over the holidays. Term 3 is going to be a fantastic term, full of learning and exciting experiences.

What's happening in the classroom this term?

Mathematics

We will be focusing on multiplication and division facts, including skip counting, arrays and fact families.

Literacy

Students will be exploring autobiographies and information reports while developing their research skills.

Inquiry

Our Inquiry unit for this term is "The Best Designs Come from Many Minds." This unit will focus on two key areas:

• Design and creativity
• Teamwork and cooperation

We are looking forward to seeing some fantastic design solutions and helping students develop their skills in working collaboratively with others. An incursion will support this learning, with more details to come soon.

Boxes

Next week for our Inquiry sessions, we are looking for some empty boxes to use for design activities. If you have any spare boxes at home, please send them in with your child.

Reminders

• Please return your child's "All About Me" sheet by the end of this week. This information will support their autobiography writing in class.
• Please continue to read regularly at home and return readers to school.
• Mathletics tasks have been assigned and are available for your child to complete at home if they choose.

Term 3 is often the cold and flu season, with coughs and colds moving through the year level. Please keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell to help prevent the spread of illness.
