YEAR 10 - HOLOCAUST EXCURSION 

Our Year 10 students recently had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Museum as part of their study of Night by Elie Wiesel.

The excursion provided students with an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and engage with the history and experiences that underpin the memoir they are currently studying. Throughout the visit, students explored a range of historical artefacts and exhibits, helping them to develop a deeper understanding of the everyday realities faced by Jewish people during the Holocaust.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the day was the opportunity to hear directly from a Holocaust survivor. Students were able to ask questions and listen to their personal experiences, providing a powerful and deeply personal connection to the events they have been exploring through Night. Our students asked thoughtful and insightful questions, demonstrating their curiosity and willingness to engage respectfully with such an important and challenging part of history.

The survivor testimony also encouraged students to consider the difference between learning about historical events through a text and hearing about those events from someone who experienced them firsthand. It brought many of the themes explored in Night including loss, survival, identity, memory, faith and resilience into a much more tangible context.

We were incredibly proud of the respectful, thoughtful and mature way our Year 10 students conducted themselves throughout the excursion.
