Principal’s Report – Term 3, 2026

Term 3 is always an especially busy and important time for our senior students, particularly those in Year 12. The end of their secondary schooling now feels incredibly close; however, this is often the point at which they are required to dig the deepest.

To our Year 12 students: continue to draw upon your intrinsic motivation and keep your individual goals firmly in focus. Whether your ambition is further study, employment, training, travel or something still taking shape, remain committed to the pathway you have chosen and make the most of these final weeks.

It has been wonderful to observe the strong connections our Year 12 students have developed with their teachers. The mutual respect, trust and collaborative learning evident in our senior classrooms reflect the positive relationships that have been built over many years. Our teachers remain deeply invested in the success and wellbeing of every student, and I know they will continue to provide encouragement, guidance and support as the cohort approaches the finish line.

Outstanding NAPLAN Results

My pride also extends to our Year 7 and Year 9 students, who have truly “knocked NAPLAN out of the park” in 2026.

Across most measures, our Year 7 students collectively achieved results above those of similar schools and the state. Our Year 9 students have been absolute champions, performing above—and, in some areas, significantly above—similar schools and the state across every measure. These are our strongest Year 9 results in several years and represent an outstanding achievement.

We understand that NAPLAN is one assessment undertaken on one particular day and provides only one set of data. However, due to the adaptive nature of the assessment, it remains a legitimate and valuable measure of student learning and progress. Our Year 7 and Year 9 students should feel extremely proud of what they have achieved.

These results reflect the combined efforts of many people: the excellent foundational work undertaken by our local primary schools, the commitment and expertise of our junior school teachers, the support of families and, most importantly, the hard work and perseverance of our students.

A New Approach to Year 7 in 2027

In 2027, we will introduce a new approach to our Year 7 program. As mentioned previously, we have been working closely with the Mount Eliza Cluster primary schools and have identified an opportunity to strengthen the transition from primary to secondary school.

From next year, our Year 7 students will be supported by a dedicated team of teachers across their core subjects. This model will reduce the number of teacher changes students experience throughout the school day and allow them to develop deeper, more consistent relationships with their teachers.

Moving from primary school into a large secondary school is a significant transition. By providing greater continuity, familiarity and connection, we aim to help our newest students feel known, supported and confident as they begin their secondary education.

Building Redevelopment

Our upstairs redevelopment continues to progress well and is now approaching 70 per cent completion. The anticipated completion date remains October, with students hopefully able to move into and experience the new spaces during Jumpstart.

The development is already looking absolutely stunning. Calming colours, timber features, modern finishes and contemporary equipment are combining to create beautiful, welcoming and highly functional learning environments. Our Science and Design teams are understandably very excited to move in and begin using these outstanding new facilities with students.

There is much to celebrate as we move through Term 3. I remain incredibly proud of the determination of our senior students, the outstanding achievements of our Year 7 and Year 9 cohorts, and the continued growth and development taking place across our College.
