R U OK Day?
On Thursday 10 September, ARPS will recognise R U OK? Day, a national day that reminds us of the importance of checking in, staying connected and showing others that we care.
For our students, the message is simple: be a good friend, notice how others are feeling, listen and choose kindness. Children aren't expected to solve someone else's problems. Instead, we want them to know that they can listen, show they care and speak to a trusted adult if they are worried about themselves or a friend.
This message connects beautifully with what we already learn through UR Strong, particularly kindness, empathy, trust, respect and community. Small actions matter: inviting someone to play, including someone who is on their own, listening when a friend wants to talk, using kind words or simply asking, “Are you OK?”
At ARPS, Community is one of our RICH values, and R U OK? Day is another reminder that we all have a role to play in creating a school where everyone feels that they belong, are cared for and have someone they can turn to.
Students are encouraged to wear a splash of yellow on Thursday 10 September to help us recognise R U OK? Day and start conversations about kindness, connection and looking out for one another.
Most importantly, R U OK? isn't a question for just one day. Let's choose kindness, look out for each other and build a strong and connected ARPS community every day.
Connected, supported, thriving.
