MACSSIS surveys
Thank you to the 42 families who have taken the time to complete the MACSSIS survey- we really appreciate this.
This data , as well as data collected from students and staff, will form part of our 2027 annual action plan.
The survey is still open until tomorrow, so if you haven't had a chance and are able to complete it- that would be great!
Father's Day/Special Friend
It was wonderful to see so many dads/significant people at our special morning on September 4th. We hope all our special visitors enjoyed their morning with the children at school.
Staffing News
After nearly 40 years in education we say farewell to Mrs Gilbert who has been both a staff member and emergency teacher at Holy Family for well over 15 years! Bev is always the first one to pitch in and help with whatever is needed, even to the point of locking the school gates for the last time yesterday! We thank Bev once again for her commitment to our students and community, and for the many skills she has brought with her to education. We wish her a happy, safe and relaxing retirement from teaching!
Thank you Bev!
Welcome back Mrs Pejic from Long Service Leave!
Mrs Smith will be on Long Service Leave for the first four weeks of next term. Ms Julia Sheehan will be teaching 5SG from Monday-Thursday, with Mrs Grabau teaching her usual Friday in 5SG.
While Mrs David is away, 2MK will be taught by Mrs Grabau on a Wednesday morning and Ms Dell'Aquila for the afternoon.
At the end of this term, we will be saying farewell to LSO Kelly Vu. Kelly has been a kind, caring and valued member of the Holy Family community, providing wonderful support to our students and staff, particularly within the Year Four cohort.
We are incredibly grateful for Kelly’s warmth, patience and the genuine care she has shown our students. Her support has been greatly appreciated and she will be missed by many.
We thank Kelly for all she has contributed to Holy Family and wish her every success and happiness for the future as she takes on a full time role as a support worker.
Prep Transition
We look forward to our Prep transition sessions next term with our Prep Information night on Wednesday 28th October at 7pm. It has been wonderful getting to know our 'almost Preps' at our Step Into Prep program this term!
Footy Day
A reminder that we celebrate 'Footy Day' tomorrow. Students may wear footy colours on that day. I can't say "Go the Blue Boys" anymore this season!
Year 5 Excursion to Scienceworks
Our excursion to Scienceworks was really fun. Our favorite thing to do? Getting to sit in chairs that go all the way backward, looking up at the dome-screen and watching a movie about the stars and how Aboriginals used them to go places and find home!
We also loved listening to the many interesting facts about the solar system. We learned many things, like facts about the Sun, Moon and Earth. We definitely had a great time at Scienceworks.
We also got to experience the sport area, where we learned what to eat to stay healthy and strong, what sport looked like way back when and so much more. Moving on, we got to experience a state of the art ski simulator, racing Cathy Freeman, wheelchair racing, the ´test your´ course and virtual goalie! They were all really fun!
Even though our time at Scienceworks was really short, we spent a lot of time doing the 'FUTURE' section; such as seeing your future self and doing cardio in your future outfit, building your own future car and the best thing was the sound room or something like that. But we think the most important thing is knowing to not throw rubbish otherwise in the future we will become a rubbish mountain.

Year 2 Excursion to Dinosaur World
Year 2s get ROARsome at Dinosaur World!
On Tuesday 8th September, our Year 2 students travelled back millions of years for a ROARsome adventure at Dinosaur World in Somerville! The day was packed with three fantastic hands-on activities.
Students journeyed through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, coming face-to-face with over 20 life-sized, moving (and roaring!) dinosaurs along the way, including park favourites like the enormous T-Rex and Brachiosaurus.
They then swapped their school hats for paleontologist gear in the Dig and Discover zone, carefully excavating fossils from the sand and using special tools to chisel away and reveal the dinosaur remains hidden inside.
To finish the day, students hopped aboard the Train-a-saurus for a ride through the park, taking in the prehistoric landscape and every dinosaur in it from an entirely new perspective.
It was a fun, educational and unforgettable day exploring prehistoric life, well done, Year 2s!
Also, a BIG thank you to the parents and carers who came to help us on this unforgettable day 🙂
RoboCup Junior Victorian State Championships
Congratulations to former Holy Family students Kaitlyn and Neil who teamed up as an Independent Team named The Eleven Wheeler to compete in the RoboCup Junior Victorian State Championships at Genazzano FCJ College on the weekend of 5 September 2026.
They were competing against many secondary school teams and robotic groups. As an independent team, they performed very well and got into the State Championship Finals in the Secondary Rescue Line Division. They came third in the finals. Well done to you both!
