State Cross Country

A huge congratulations to Yuval and Josh for representing themselves and our school so wonderfully at the State Cross Country held in Week 1 of this term. The boys competed at Yarra Valley over 3km.

“It was pretty nice day. Most of the competitors I have seen before at either cross country events or Little Athletics. There was a big hill after the first km and at that point I was 7th. I sprinted as fast as I could towards the end and came 6th. I now get to compete at the National Cross Country in Sydney in the last week of this term.” (Yuval B, Y6)

“We got called to the marshalling room where they do a roll check. At the start line the students who had placed in the top 3 were allowed at the front. I was in the 2nd line behind Yuval. I was pumping him up as I really wanted him to make it. The gun went off and I tried to go out hard. The hill was tough and there was a tight slippery turn, I didn’t slip and then we ran onto the Yarra Valley racecourse. I did my best and came 31st. I saw Yuval sitting with the leaders and was pleased that he finished in the top 6 and can go onto Nationals. I also saw Leni S from Year 6 of last year. She came 26th.” Josh G (Y6)

We wish Yuval the best of luck with his training leading into the National Cross Country Championships towards the end of this term! Yuval will race in an individual race as well as a relay race representing Victoria.
