The Arts - Mrs Anstis

This Semester students in Prep - Grade 2 will be taking Visual Art and Music lessons.

To begin the term in Visual Art students learnt that weaving is the oldest living craft and how Indigenous people practiced weaving using the natural resources in their country to create basketry, headbands and other purposeful items.  They learnt the terms warp and weft while weaving with paper to create unique artworks which will be displayed in the Art Room windows.

Grades 3 - 6 will be studying Media Arts this Semester. Media Arts combines the use of modern tools like cameras, tablets, and sound to tell stories, share ideas, and create new worlds. Rather than relying traditional art materials such as paint and clay, students will experiment with using pictures, sounds, and motion so an audience can see and feel their imagination. Grades 3/4 students began working on a collaborative digital project. Students in Grade 5/6 made their own Thaumatraupes to create the illusion of movement.
