Welcome back to Term 3! We are so excited for a lot of upcoming events such as Book Week and eventually an excursion!
In Reading we looked at a range of indigenous texts to celebrate NAIDOC Week. We read 'Somebody's Land', 'Why I love Australia', and learned about deadly reptiles. We made posters about how we can care for country, and trading cards with our deadly animals.
This week we began our term long fiction text study, The Tales of Desperaux. It's an interesting start to the story, and we're looking forward to finding out all we can about the tiny mouse!
We have started learning about and writing Fables. We practised rewriting The Tortoise and the Hare, and this week have planned and begun drafting our own. It's tricky work planning character actions to allow the audience to see the moral, but we're working hard!
In Maths we have finished our Fractions unit, and this week have begun a deep dive into calendars, days, weeks, months and years. We learned about why days and months are certain lengths of time, and how the days of the week were named after planets!
Our Humanities unit this term is Civics and Citizenship - we have started discussing councils and elections, and designed our own communities.
In Design and Technologies, we have learned about the difference between the two, and started looking at design occupations.
Finally, it was great to have two hours of rotations with the 3-6 teachers in NAIDOC week, completing a range of fun activities and learning about our First Nations peoples.
