A reminder to consent and pay for our upcoming excursion to Lego Land. This excursion is part of our learning curriculum and all students will be learning about The history of Lego, prior to this excursion. 

Prep/ One Guy

Welcome back to school everyone. I hope you enjoyed some quality time with your beautiful children on the school holidays. 

We have had a busy first two weeks of school.

In week one we celebrated NAIDOC Week. Students rotated through NAIDOC activities and learnt a lot about our Indigenous Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

Here students make a kindness boomerang. We learnt that kindness is like a boomerang; if you throw out kindness, it comes back to you. 

We loved dancing to Indigenous music with Indigenous moves.

In Literacy we revised what we learnt in Semester One and moved on to learning about two or more letters making one sound. We have learnt about the combinations of letters which make the long a sound in play, chain, grey, eight and cake. We have also learnt about the long e sound in words such as seals, beach, Pete and mummy. We also learnt about contractions and homophones. 

On the 23rd of July, we learnt about The Commonwealth Games. We learnt where Glasglow and Scotland are in relation to us here in Bunyip.

Wow! We have been at school for 100 days! The students LOVED celebrating all that can be learnt about 100. 

In Numeracy for NAIDOC Week, you can see students learning with natural materials for place value, making numbers to 100.

In Auslan we learnt how to sign our Acknowledgemnt of Country while celebrating NAIDOC Week.

In Humanities we have started a unit on history, with a special focus on the histroy of toys. Students loved gathering information about their parents and grandparents' favourite toys to compare with the toys students play with now. We are really looking forward to our excursion to Lego Land and learning about the histoty of Lego.

In Digital Technologies we have started a unit on learning what a digital system is. We learnt how to name digital systems we use, why we might use them and the difference between software and hardware. 

We officially got to 100 days. Look at these amazing costumes!

How to help your child with Literacy at home:

Inside your child's reading diaries you have subscriptions to My Literacy with targeted activities for your childs' needs. There is also a Little Learners Love Literacy subscription to online texts. These texts are fantastic for students to practise how to read, re-read with fluency and expression and answer the comprehension questions at the back of each book. There are fiction and non fiction texts to choose from. Happy reading!

Welcome back to Term 3 🌞

We are looking forward to a busy term, with lots of exciting learning happening.

We are especially excited to be heading to Legoland in Week 5!!  If you haven't consented and paid on Compass, please do so asap so your child doesn't miss out.

NADIOC Week 🖤💛❤️

Last week we celebrated NADIOC Week with the Grade Prep - 2 classes. We rotated around to each class and experienced different activities, celebrating our Indigenous History and Culture.

Literacy 📚📚

In English, we have been learning about Haiku Poems, which are a form of Japanese poetry. Students learnt that a Haiku poem has to be about a subject and only has 3 lines. Line 1 has to have 5 syllables, line 2 has to have 7 syllables, and line 3 has to have 5 syllables. Students in Grade 12M wrote a poem together as a class about Waterfalls. 💦💦

Maths ➕➖🟰

In maths over the last 2 weeks, we have been learning all about skip counting. We have been skipping by 2s, 5s and 10s.

We have learnt that we can use Australian coins when we are adding things up quickly, like if we were to buy a Teddy and it cost $8, we can skip count like $2, $4, $6 and $8. 🪙🪙🪙
