Dear Karoo PS Community,
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement at Karoo Primary School, we believe it is important to seek our community's feedback. Your insights into what is working well here at our school and what can be improved are important to us, as we wish to see our school continue to grow and thrive.
To gain you feedback we have the upcoming 2026 Parent/Carer survey. The survey will take approximately 15-20minutes and will be open from Tuesday 18th August until Friday 18th September. A link to the survey and the Karoo PS PIN will be sent out to our school community on Tuesday 18th August via Compass.
We thank you in advance for your support and feedback.

I wanted to take a moment to say a very heartfelt thank you to our wonderful school community for making Hugh, Peta and I feel so special and appreciated on Principal Appreciation Day last Friday. Our students created beautiful messages on stars, inspired by the words “Thank you for making us shine.” These thoughtful messages were such a wonderful reminder of the positive impact our school community has on one another.
A huge thank you to our incredible staff, who hosted a very special morning tea, complete with heartfelt notes of appreciation and the most beautiful cupcakes decorated in our school colours. Your thoughtfulness and generosity truly made the morning memorable.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our Karoo Primary Association (KPA) for the beautiful cards, gorgeous orchids and delicious homemade treats you gave us to celebrate Principal Appreciation Day. It is moments like these that remind us just how fortunate we are to be part of such a caring, supportive and generous school community. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing encouragement, support and kindness you show us throughout the year.
Thank you for making us shine!

Our wonderful fish tank has been a much-loved place for students and families to visit and enjoy. However, maintaining a healthy and safe environment for saltwater fish in a school setting has become increasingly challenging.
To ensure the ongoing health and wellbeing of our fish, our saltwater friends will soon be heading off on their own ‘Nemo’ adventure to a new setting where they can thrive.
In their place, we are excited to welcome some new freshwater fish to our Karoo PS community! Our new tank and fish will be arriving on Monday 7th Septemb, and we will be holding a whole school competition for students to help choose names for our new members of the community.
This means we will be saying farewell to our current saltwater fish on Friday 28th August. If you or your children would like to, we encourage you to pop into the office area before then to say your farewells.
After that, you are very welcome to visit and say hello to our new fish friends!
We look forward to welcoming our new aquatic members to the Karoo PS community and seeing what wonderful names our students come up with!

We are excited to share with our school community that, thanks to the incredible support of our fundraising efforts, we are able to upgrade our basketball courts!
We look forward to unveiling the new look of our basketball courts next term! We are incredibly excited to provide our students with an improved space to enjoy, while also celebrating the wonderful support of our school community. The works are scheduled to commence during the upcoming school holidays, with the aim of completing them by the end of the holidays. However, should any delays occur, the works may extend into the first week of Term 4. If this happens, we will keep our school community informed.
Thank you for helping make this possible!
Book Week is happening soon, so save the date for our sensational Book Week Parade on Monday 24 August at 9:15am! We love seeing our students bring their favourite book characters to life, whether it’s a much-loved classic or a character from a recently discovered favourite book. We can’t wait to see the creativity and excitement on display!
As part of our Book Week celebrations, we are thrilled to welcome Fiona Harris to our school on Wednesday 26 August. Fiona is an award-winning author, scriptwriter and performer with more than 20 years of experience across publishing, television and theatre. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge, stories and passion for the arts with our students.
It’s set to be a fantastic week celebrating books, imagination and a love of reading! We can’t wait to celebrate Book Week with our school community!
