Yesterday, the Year 12 cohort commenced their External Assessment for 2026.
The updated schedule with exam locations is now available on the Parent Orbit App and was also emailed to students and parents last week. A reminder that Year 12 students can book in times with their classroom teachers during their normal timetabled double periods to ask questions or review content in preparation for their exam.
We wish every boy sitting an exam the very best for their last assessments at school.
A reminder to ensure that your son has the correct equipment necessary for External exams. The list of prescribed equipment can be found here - External assessment equipment list (qcaa.qld.edu.au).
From Week 5, parents and our young men of Year 11 are invited to chat about their progress through Units 1 & 2, to see a way forward in preparing for Units 3 & 4. Details will be as per email communication to be sent this week – please note the deadline for bookings. For boys on an ATAR pathway, you will be given an ATAR Estimation range with a print-out of how this is calculated. There is room on this document for students to take notes – it is suggested that students bring a pen with them to these interviews. Any student who is on a non-ATAR pathway will be invited to make an appointment with Adrian Gray (Acting Program Leader – VET) to discuss progress and future pathway options. Any issues are encountered with bookings, please contact curriculum@marash.qld.edu.au.
Please see the follow link for information on Accessing Unit 2 Reports.
Accessing Student Reports - Accessing Student Reports.pdf.
The college has provided an update to the Assessment Policy. This can be found in Student and Parent Portals.
As a reminder, if a student does not have an ATAR Portal account, they will not be able to see their ATAR on or after December 18.
The ATAR Portal sign-up link is here - QTAC
Year 12 students, please check your contact details are correct in your learning account with the QCAA student portal, https://myqce.qcaa.qld.edu.au. In March 2027, you will receive a letter from the Minister for Education and the Arts inviting you to participate in the Next Step Year 12 Completers survey, following up on your activities after graduating. You may also receive an email or phone call from the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office. Your feedback helps our school improve services for future students, and you can win a laptop for participating. For more information visit www.qld.gov.au/nextstep.
Please be advised that if leave is not approved for missed assessments (including assignments and exams), a summative mark of NA will appear on your son’s End of Semester Academic Report for the relevant subject. In accordance with the College Examination Policy (available via the Parent Portal) and QCAA guidelines, events such as holidays, weddings, or family reunions are not considered unavoidable and will result in an NA for the missed assessment.
Students will still be required to complete the assessment upon their return to school; however, no assessments will be scheduled earlier. Reports will be withheld until all assessments have been completed.
While students will receive formative feedback on the completed assessment, the result will not contribute to their summative grade due to the following reasons:
Please note that this does not apply to leave that has been granted for approved reasons (illness, etc.) as per QCAA policies.
Tutoring support will take place in the Senior Library and is open to all boys in Years 7 to 12.

Please find here a list of Old Boys who are available to tutor your son outside of school hours. This list can also be located on the parent portal > School Links > General Links or via this link -
Please note it is the parent’s responsibility to organise and liaise tutoring times with the Old Boys.
