Learning for Life : Set Up for Success

Thank all the wonderful new and returning families who have joined us for our Learning for Life sessions on Tuesday mornings. These sessions are a fantastic opportunity for younger siblings and families within our College community to connect, learn and play together, as well as welcoming the wider community.

The Learning for Life program is part of Mount Carmel College’s Set Up for Success initiative - a free early years program designed to nurture a love of learning for children from birth to five years of age while supporting families in their child’s early learning journey. Through play-based experiences and exploration, children are encouraged to develop curiosity, confidence and social connections in a warm and welcoming environment.

It has been wonderful to see the sense of community already forming this year as families gather each week. The children have quickly become confident in the Early Learning Centre environment, exploring the spaces independently and choosing play experiences that reflect their own interests. These early opportunities to connect, explore and learn together help lay the foundations for a positive start to learning and belonging within our Mount Carmel community.

Tasmanians are invited to celebrate the joy of reading during Tasmania Reads, a state-wide festival of stories running from 23–29 March. Organised by Libraries Tasmania, the week features over 100 fun events for readers of all ages.

The festival begins with a pop-up library and Storytime at the Farm Gate Market. A full list of events is available on the Libraries Tasmania website.

Throughout the week, many engaging activities and events will also take place across libraries around the state, offering opportunities for people of all ages to celebrate reading.

As part of the Tasmania Reads celebrations, our school library will be buzzing with stories and smiles. Every morning next week, from Monday 23 to Friday 27 March, the College Library will host a special Reading Breakfast Session from 8:00am - 8:35 am. Students, parents, and siblings are warmly invited to drop in, settle into a cosy corner, and enjoy the magic of a great story together.

There will be a warm drink and a small treat to help everyone start the day feeling relaxed, inspired, and ready for learning.

Come along, share the joy of reading!
