Pathways News
Year 12
Next month all Year 12 students will be attending the VCE and Careers Expo at Melbourne Convention Centre on Thursday 30th April. This follows on from their Pathways session with the careers team and Ms Ferry this term. This is a great opportunity to explore different pathway options for 2027 and beyond with Victorian and interstate universities, TAFEs, private providers and major employers present. VCE seminars will also be running on the day. Please ensure payment is made by 31st March ($12) so tickets can be allocated. Students will be leaving from Waurn Ponds station in 2 groups, 8:39 and 9:01am and returning around 3:30pm.
Year 10
White Card Training was held on12th March. Well done to the Year 10 students who completed their White Card Training last week. Certificates and cards will be issued over the next 6 weeks. Students are now ready to embark on work experience opportunities in construction fields.
Our final White card training day will be Thursday 18th June and is fully subscribed. A waitlist is available. Great to see so many students keen to gain this entry level qualification.
Geelong Manufacturing Council Programs
Congratulations to Libby Garnsworthy (Girls Leading Advanced Manufacturing), Tom Wilson and Hope Scholtz (Geelong Future Leaders of Industry) for being selected into these high-end industry programs. Over the next 4 months these students will be undertaking visits to many of Geelong's major industrial employers, undertake mentoring and practical workshops. We look forward to hearing of their experiences.
Year 9
Morrisby Interviews will take place next week and into the last week of term. These will occur in A2 and all students will be notified through a Microsoft TEAMs chat. At these interviews a Morrisby Consultant will go through your child's Morrisby report (based on their online assessment) and discuss pathway options based on their interests and strengths. As a result of this Government initiative, students will have lifetime access to Morrisby. We are very much looking forward to the career conversations that arise from these interviews.
